Computer repair, Wi-Fi for older buildings, backup, security and new computer setup for homes, shops and studios in Nyack and the river villages.
Nyack is a village on the Hudson River, beside the bridge to Westchester, with a busy downtown of independent shops, restaurants, galleries and studios, and streets of houses that are often a century old or more. Both halves of that description create particular technology problems.
The houses that give Nyack its character were built with plaster on lath, brick and stone, all of which absorb a Wi-Fi signal far more than modern drywall does. A router that would cover a newer house with ease may struggle to reach the next room. Add several floors and a steep hillside lot, and a single router has little chance.
The answer is rarely a more powerful router. It is more than one source of signal, placed with care: a mesh system with its units positioned for the building, a wired connection where one can be run discreetly, or adapters that make use of existing coaxial cable. We look at the building before we recommend anything.
Downtown businesses here are mostly independent and small. Typical work for them:
Nyack has many freelancers, consultants and creative professionals working from home or from a small studio. For them the computer is the business. We set up proper backups, security that does not get in the way, and a plan for replacing equipment before it lets them down.
Nyack is a short drive from our base in Nanuet, and much of this work can be started remotely. Tell us about the building and the problem, and we will suggest a way forward.

Repair, replace or upgrade? Get straight advice first, then a new system set up and ready to use.
Usually, yes. Plaster and brick block far more signal than modern walls do, so an older house generally needs two or three mesh units in the right places. Where there are television coaxial sockets, adapters can carry the network over that cable without any new wiring.
Yes. Small creative and retail businesses tend to need reliable Wi-Fi, a safe guest network, a card terminal that stays connected, and a proper backup of their work.
